I moved in to a swim which commands a lot of water in the central part of the lake and as it was late in the afternoon an not wishing to lead a round too much, the chap next to me told me about 2 spots at 21 wraps. I had 2 casts on each spot and they were as he said so that was good information and my starting point for the trap setting. I initially had one rod on a chod rig and one on a Ronnie rig but having lost a fish for no reason on the Ronnie rig and having an odd (aborted) take on the chod rig, I opted to fish IQ D-rigs on both rods which I had previously caught well on. One rig was baited with a cell dumbbell hooker and a yellow cell topper and the other rod was a 15mm cell boilie (soaked in Cell hookbait enhancer) topped with a 12mm milky toffee pop up so both were fished snowman style. I had the first of the fish on the new rigs around 16:00, 4 hours after losing one at the net and it was a fighting machine torpedo of a common and there was a lot of activity in the swim. That evening I baited up with 4 kg of halved and whole 15mm & 18mm boilies and I was getting a lot of liners on both rods. At 22:00 on the left rod(3rd bit on that) I had a few bleeps intermittently for around a minute then it tore off. The result was a really wide mirror of 37lb 8oz and to be honest I thought it was a forty but it lacked the length. They were on the bait. The following morning it was bleeps and liners galore and at 10:00 I was packing up and talking to a chap who was looking for a spot and after telling him about this swim and my action some 20 minutes later, literally moments before reeling in, the left hand rod was away again and this time a 38lb 2oz mirror known as DC graced my net. 5 fish caught, 1 lost, and two of those fish were upper 30's, I went home happy and the cell was doing the business for me again
