Mainline Consultant, Ed Betteridge has been in contact again recently with this report following a superb brace of carp from the daunting Burghfield Lake.
"After not being able to get back in the productive swim from the previous week, I spent most of the first day walking round the 96-acre Burghfield and looking for signs of fish.
Sadly I saw nothing and the first nights fishing was a blank as a result. The second day of searching still didn't give me any clue as to where the fish were so I dropped into a swim I had been prebaiting heavily for a couple of weeks with Hybrid Boilies and matching Response Pellets.
At dawn, I woke up fish-less and started to wonder if I should have stuck to my plan of baiting it and leaving the area unpressured for another week - but then a fish showed over the spot and within an hour I had banked a good fish.
I unhooked it in the net put a fresh rig and bait on and recast it to the long distance mark. Thirty minutes later the rod was away again and I soon had a brace of thirties from the low stocked big pit!
