Dan Carter E There’s carp… and then there’s carp I turned up to the Horton complex for a 48 hour session doing a night on Kingsmead , not a single show or anything to go on felt really bleak. Next morning, I went for a walk over to Horton Church and found a few in a small bay. Decided to do the night on there but another unproductive night. I packed the bedchair, bivvy in the van and packed light on the barrow. After a lap of the complex, I ended up back at Kingsmead and spotted a couple of shows in a quiet bay. Flicked out a small PVA bag, I put the rod on the floor ……and 2 minutes later, it absolutely melted off. Massive disturbance on the surface straight away i knew what fish it was due to previous capture story’s. After catching a glimpse of a big common under the surface… no doubt in my mind what fish it was . After a proper battle under the rod tip , eventually it rolled over the net cord.
