Harry Almond A tough session with the bulk of the small stock holding up down one end I simply felt miles away from them most the time. I managed to pick off a few stragglers that ventured my way. I stuck to the spot down the end of the lake , a small gravel spot in amongst the weed. Several scoops of cell/ ISO fish and the new nut bait on test and my faithful essential iB wafter in place. I was woke the last morning to a flurry of beeps and the rod tip dipped , immediately assumed tench. Arriving over the top in the boat it was soon apparent the tench theory was out the picture , huge plume of silt and weed erupted and handlining up a ball of weed a large common appeared and one swoop of the net it was in. Couldn’t believe it, knew which it was straight away , the most sort after ‘Friendly’ and for good reason. Incredible carp, made the long journey home that much easier.
