Ian Smith I was shocked and amazed upon arrival as it was bank Holiday weekend and only 2 others fishing the lake. I did a fair few laps searching for the fish as there's only 40 to 50 carp present I had to make sure I was on some fish. I spotted around 5 or 6 fish mooching about in the shallows. I wasn't about to set up for a night in 2 ft of water so I had to formulate a plan and try to predict the fishes nocturnal movement. I set up in a swim called kingfisher. I decided to spread my rods out on the predicted patrol route and bait with the throwing stick, about 50 baits over the 3 rods. I'd not even got my 3rd rod out when the first rods shredded off with this gnarly old otter dodger at 22lb. The size is irrelevant when your fishing for a handful of crusty battle hardened carp. hopefully the lakes bigger residents aren't too far away now.
