Scale icon 30lb 10oz Scale icon 2nd July 2022 Location No location provided Type Mirror Bait Link
I spotted a group of fish on the end of the wind sunning themselves tight against an island margin. I managed to get into a swim which was close enough that I could catapult out some bait. I fed initially 2 kilos of pellets and and a kilo of 15mm Link freezer bait to gage their reaction and was pleased to see they started to feed. I flicked out a small pva bag on the area as wasn’t sure how the clean bottom would be on the island shelf. I recieved my first take around 2 hours later which resulted in a pretty linear of 14lb. The fish were still present as the light started to fade so I put out another kilo of boilies and a further 2 kilos of pellets. During the night I could hear the fish crashing over the bait but didn’t receive another take until 2am which resulted in a common weighing in at 12lb. I flicked another pva bag on the spot and it was away almost instantly which resulted in a bream. Another pva bag was despatched onto the spot and I sat having a brew as the sun came up hoping for one of the better carp to show up. At 4.20am I received a ferocious take with the fish initially trying to do me around the tip of the island it was at this point I saw exactly what I was attached to and knew it was the biggest and prettiest mirror in the lake. It then decided to slowly make its way right into the deeper on the right hand side of my swim. The fish then stayed deep holding its ground under the rod tip for a further 15minutes before eventually coughing air and into the net she went.
