I have been members and bailiff of my local gravel pit syndicate for for last 4-5 of years. I not really given this water much fishing time till then up of last August where I done 12 nights for 15fish upto 34lb i was starting to get somewhere but i knew there was more to come. So me and one of my mates dan waited for the weather to warm up a bit as we knew they would be waking up and getting on the move. Then the sun got in that sky we was up them tree most day. Just as we found some of these big carp so which I only heard rumours about and carp that had never seen the bank. But sadly just as this was happening angling got put on hold due to lock down. Lucky for me the lake is in walking distance from my home. So still taking trips down and keeper giving them some food not to much as I didn't want any one else to see what a i was doing. After lock down I was straight down the lake thinking this was going to be easy now but sadly again these big fish did not play ball but came away with 25lb mirror. So I got back down late on the 27th may and I found only one other person on the lake and he wasn't anywhere near where I wanted to go. I got settled into my swim the sun was going down in the distance. I got one rod about 70yard off the side of a shallow platto in 5 foot of water on small hinge stiff rig with a cell up pop plug with a bit of cork I then placed kilo of a mix of the cell and the link in 16mm and 18mm over the top with the stick. The other rod went drop my right margin at 40yard this rod only had about 20 baits round it. I sat up enjoying the weather with couple beers. I got into bed about midnight but wasnt for long as at 2.30am I got a slow steady take on the rod off the platto as soon as I picked the rod up I could tell it wasnt a stockie. After I 15mins steady battle I was able to slip the net over her. I flicked the head touch on and saw what was in my net. I let out a massive screem of get in that f**I in my net you beast. I couldn't believe it. I could feel my knees start going weak. I was all over the place. I need some to to let it sink in. So I place her in the sling and made the phone call to the people I needed to to came down and help me with this beast. At sunrise two of my mate turned up with my old man to live this moment with me which made it even better as they knew what this fish means to me. I am still buzzing now righting this sorry if it bit all over the place
