Sussex Park lake

Essential cell wafter, cell/ground bait/pellets and syrup
Turned up on the park lake for a 24hr session late Friday afternoon, cast out to a spot I’ve been baiting on a regular basis for the past 6 weeks, even after having the big common from there only 2 weeks ago it was looking quite bleak and not looking good for a bite with the really cold weather coming in that night I fished to a spot that I had found back in the summer but had only had one fish from it but kept the bait trickling in on it, two weeks ago it produced the biggest resident of the lake to me in the shape of a 39lb common so set my traps again hoping it would produce again for me. So woke up the next morning to find the lake had frozen over not what I was hoping for, so pulled the bag back over my head and thought I’d Get another couple of hours sleep then pack up once the sun got round to me as it was so cold. An hour later the bobbin smashed against the blank and the reel went into melt down!! After a good scrap fighting the fish under the ice, it surfaced a rod length off the bank breaking the ice, I was all ready to go in and land the fish in my waders it kicked its tail and broke a path to the bank, after a few heart in mouth lunges it went over the net cord. I checked my prize knowing it was a good one only to see it was the second largest resident of the park lake! two of the A team in less than two weeks to say I’m happy is just an understatement.
