What can I say about lake Raduta apart from the fact that it is in my eyes the best lake in the world if you are after a big continental carp. Nowhere else has such a population of 40lb plus fish in one venue and it is for this reason that anglers from all over the world go over there each year in search of big fish.
As the exclusive UK booking agent for this incredible water I have been going out there for a number of years but it is only over the last year or so that the Brits have really got to grips with the place for it's monsters. True enough our guys always catch a few forties and the odd bigger fish, but in previous years we have struggled with getting through to the bigger fish over 50lbs. However things have changed and the Brits are now a force to be reckoned with and the last two trips out there have produced a silly amount of fish over 40lbs and a massive amount of 50s.
So what's changed? For me the one of the biggest reasons is Mainline Bait. The Raduta big carp simply love Active 8. We've been going over there for a good few years now but never have we seen the successes that we are now seeing since we changed to Active. It was an instant winner, and since Active accompanies us on our trips we have never looked back. Take last October as an example. I couldn't tell you how many 30 and 40lb fish that our lads caught as there were simply too many, but what I can say is that the English group took 11 fish over 50lbs in 2 weeks. Certainly in excess of 25 forties came out during the same period and thirties I would estimate in excess of 50. Awesome angling for an awesome bait.
The previous May was the same and once again the big Raduta carp got their heads down on the gear and I personally took three forties and 15 thirties in just 6 days fishing on the Active. Our group accounted for in excess of 30 forties and 8 over 50lbs and whilst the others around the lake were catching fish, they didn't have the trump carp in their arsenal.
I know that I can speak for the other Raduta regulars when I say that Mainline and Active 8 are as much of the Raduta Team as we are ourselves. Roll on summer when we can get back out there and give the fish what they really want again. A little bit of Active8.
