New Year's Joy for Jeroen!
Dutch carper Jeroen Flokstra has been in touch with this news following another successful trip to Abbey Lakes, France! Mainline Consultant, Jeroen who's been consistently banking the monster carp of Abbey told us:
"During the first days of the new year, I couldn’t resist going to Abbey Lakes for an early January session on Fox lake. With temperatures up to 12 degrees celsius and strong winds up to 85 mph blowing straight in the corner of Peg 1, everything spelled carp.

My first rig was baited with a Cell boilie, the 2nd with a Cell dumbell and the 3rd with an Active-8 boilie. All tipped with a half 10mm pop-up and hidden inside a solid PVA bag, filled up with matching Response pellets. The bags were dropped precisely with the baitboat and echosounder on my chosen spots in about 16ft of water.

The rigs as simple as possible, Fox Kuro S4XS size 6, Coretex 25lb strippable hooklink material and a light, 2 ¾ oz in-line lead. I removed the insert from the lead and replaced it for a Carp Safety sleeve. This means the fish can’t use the lead to eject the hook, because the sleeve pops out straight away when the fish takes the bait and the sharp hook pricks the carp in the mouth.

Besides the strong south westerly wind, the rain came in as well and when it was pouring down, the middle rod roared off. This is the time that you don’t want a bite, but it was worth getting soaked, the Cell delivered the goods, a superb 56lb mirror!"
