Father and son anglers, Andy and Tom Maker, have shown yet again why they're some of the most formidable carp match, anglers around, with they're record breaking win of the second BCAC semi-final held at midlands super water, Barston Lakes. The Fox-backed, Mainline consultants smashed the current venue and BCAC competition record of 1204lbs by almost a 100lbs! Setting an amazing new record of 1292lbs 14ozs with an unbelievable 132 carp landed during the 48hr semi-final match.
“It was crazy” announced Tom (20). “We had a good draw and went for it, initially with the intention of winning our section, then the overall match, and when we kept catching and catching we thought the overall record was in sight”.
Maker senior, Andy added: “We put a lot of our success down to the bait and the reliable kit we were using. They simply loved the Cell and the Mark 1 from Mainline and couldn’t get enough of it, and in a match like this where every fish counts, our Fox SSBP barbless hooks in particular did not let us down”.
The successful Fox-team pairing went on to say: "Rig-wise things couldn't have been any simpler, a Cell or MK1 boilie straight out of the packet hair-rigged to a size 6 hook, with a 3-bait stringer attached, as we've said, very simple, but very effective"
Andy & Tom will now take their place in the televised final, which takes place at Broadlands lake in Hampshire on Sept 16th.
