Question This Month's Questions - March 2009
Question1
Gaz Fareham

I have recently returned to carp fishing after about seven years and would really like to get to grips with all the updated techniques as my ‘classic methods’ seem a touch out of date and I receive a lot of stick from my fishing partners in the Army Carp Association. I have purchased a spod rod and a mid-range reel, but I am having difficulty getting my accuracy and feed styles to work. I have been fishing Yateley Sandhurst Lake and been thrashing it to a near froth but with little or no effect.

Any information and help you could give on this would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure, with your sound advice, I will soon have all the boys eating their words.

Question 2
John Kneebone

I’m off to France in April and over the last few weeks I have been air-drying Activ-8s in preparation for my week-long stint.
I consider April to be an unpredictable month as regards the weather and, as such, would like to be able to rehydrate these boilies on the bank to suit the conditions I’m going to find myself up against, especially with regards to flavour, i.e. adding a suitable fishmeal or fruity label to them. So how do I go about rehydrating them to bring the boilies back to their best?

I am a bit confused as to what length of leadcore I should be using. One chap tells me to use 8ft and another says 2ft. When and what determines the length of your leadcore?

Question 4

I have been fishing for carp at big waters for the last year and I have had a few decent-sized specimens. With the cold weather, should I change my rigs and the bait I’m using on the hook and for loose feeding, or keep it the same? I have been using Bolt Rigs with strawberry pop-ups, pellets, and crushed boilies, and I have also been trying Method feeder with corn once in a while. Are these methods good for the winter?
