Ian Macmillan

Question 2
Rob Marsh

I am going on a fishing holiday soon to a venue that holds lots of carp and a few catfish. I’m wondering whether there is a hooklink I can use to catch the catfish and not get broken off, but with which I can also catch carp, which is what I would prefer.
The last time I went I was snapped up between five and six times, which can be very frustrating.
Can you help me?

Question 3
Roman Buczynski

I have been fishing for carp at my local water for two years now and so far have only managed two bites and they both snapped me up. I am using 15Ib main line with a 10Ib hooklink. Somebody told me that my line is too thick, hence leading to my lack of bites, but I’m now in a dilemma, because of bushes, weed, etc. in the lake I'm already getting snapped up – help!

Question 4
Mike 'Spug' Redfern

I’ve been a keen fisherman for 10 years but I have only just started carp fishing. My question is about the ideal setup. From your experience I would like to know the best all-round setup. I am puzzled by things such as does your main line strength need to be greater than your hooklength, braid, or line? I hope your advice will catch me a big one!
