I have been fishing a local water of 20 acres and, following usual tactics, I have fished with the wind in mind, but an angler on the bank commented the other day that because of the islands in the lake, the rules have changed. I just nodded as if I understood, but I didn’t really. Please help.
Question 2
When clipping up, what material do you recommend to tie to the main line? I have been using purpose-made marker braid, which stays on the line brilliantly, but is a bit of a pain to remove afterwards and seems to damage the main line.
I have tried No.4 pole elastic, which is easy to remove without damaging the main line, but it will slide up and down under slight pressure and I am worried it will move whilst playing a fish (by the tip eye), therefore losing my distance.
Question 3
On my local water I am being plagued by small bream, I am fishing Cell pop-ups over 15mm bottom baits and, although I have spoken to the owner and he states “the bream activity will attract the carp”, I can’t help but feel that if the bream are taking my hookbait within five minutes of it hitting the bottom, what chance do the carp have of taking? And surely, if the carp were present they would push the skimmer bream out?
Can you please advise me on how to avoid the bream and hopefully land one of the resident 30lb mirrors?
Question 4
I am desperately trying to raise my PB of 16.08Ib. I am fishing a water which has a good stock of fish from 8Ib to mid-20s, but I never seem to catch anything other than fish from 8-15Ib. I catch nearly every time and, although I'm not a tackle tart, I have tried most new things on the market but I still can't locate, hook, and then land one of the 20s. Is there any way I could change my fishing to target the bigger fish?
